Northern Lights Guaranteed*
Small group of max 16 people in a minibus.
On this adventure we take you to the unique Northern Lights Observatory, Aurora Basecamp, where you can experience a real-time simulation of the Northern Lights. This is a one of a kind in the world! Also, the Dark Park at Aurora Basecamp offers an optimal viewing platform for the natural Northern Lights when they are active.
Northern Lights Guaranteed, even when it’s cloudy!*

This tour is fully guided by a Professional Icelandic Northern Lights Hunter.
Who is this tour for?
This is a perfect option for your last night in Iceland, when the other tours are cancelling, if you have limited time in Iceland or if you don’t feel like potentially chasing the Northern Lights for several nights. Join this tour and be guaranteed to at least see the simulated Northern Lights, if not the natural phenomenon too.
Aurora Basecamp
Our first stop on this tour is in the rugged lavafields of the Reykjanes Geopark at Aurora Basecamp. There, we start by relaxing in the Aurora Lounge and enjoy a complimentary hot chocolate, tea or coffee while our eyes adjust to the darkness. Then, the guide takes you through to a completely dark dome where you can experience the simulation of the Northern Lights.
*Simulated Northern Lights
Northern Lights Guaranteed? Yes, you will see actual and scientifically accurate Northern Lights in a glass tube in the middle of a lava field in Iceland! By carefully mixing gases and charging them with electrical energy, real Northern Lights are made. There are 6 large glass tubes, each containing a different mix of gases, to show the various colours of the Northern Lights. These tubes are fed with real-time satellite data, measuring Geomagnetic activity up in space, so the simulation can then be set to depict the real-time Northern Lights activity, or manually show the the K-scale range from 0-9.
Dark Park
Leading you through the Dark Park the guide will enlighten you about the volcanic activity in the ground you walk on. If the natural Northern Lights are visible from the Dark Park we enjoy the show there and take photos of you in the lava field. But if the cloud cover is not favourable at the Dark Park the second half of our tour will take us to other locations in search of the best viewing conditions.
*Northern Lights Guaranteed
Please note that “Northern Lights Guaranteed” refers to the simulated Northern Lights. The natural Northern Lights or their magnitude can never be guaranteed. However, our Professional Icelandic Northern Lights Hunters will try their best to find the elusive Lady Aurora for you! If you’d like to book a tour with a free re-run in case of non-sighting have a look at our Northern Lights & Stargazing tour.
Expert Knowledge
Northern Lights hunting is all about the weather. We spend winters chasing Northern Lights weather and summers chasing Paragliding weather. Also, we teach meteorology on our Paragliding courses every year. We know Icelandic weather! Original, local sky enthusiasts and our small and personal tours are designed to make you feel like a part of our team and a part of Iceland.

Northern Lights Guaranteed
“Northern Lights Guaranteed” refers to the simulated Northern Lights. The natural Northern Lights or their magnitude can never be guaranteed, however. For a sighting of the natural Northern Lights we need three things to come together: solar wind, darkness and a clear sky and overall, on any given night during dark hours in Iceland, our chances are about 50%. We maximise our chance by being experts in reading the weather and choosing the best locations.
Under no circumstances will there be a refund, in full or partial, or a free re-run for a tour even though no “natural” Northern Lights were seen. If you’d like to book a tour with a free re-run in case of non-sighting have a look at our Northern Lights & Stargazing tour.
Departures for this tour are guaranteed regardless of cloud forecast but we reserve the right to cancel as late as 6.30 pm due to weather hazards or warnings.
